Chestnut and Oak Fireside stool
A four-legged fireside stool or cracket as they are know in the North East of England, made in the vernacular tradition from locally available timber foraged from hedgerows and woodlands. Made by hand with a variety of traditional hand tools, the seat is in chestnut and the legs are oak with oak stretchers. The stool is then finished in linseed oil and beeswax.
Inspired by the humble furniture once found in farmhouses and cottages across rural Britain, these versatile little stools are perfect for sitting on whilst laying a fire or loading the wood burner or when cleaning out the ashes the next morning, or can sit in the hearth with candles on. Also suitable for a side table, or footrest. Its compact size also makes it a firm favourite with little ones.
Perfect beside the hearth, in the shepherds hut or tucked into a cozy reading nook. Built to last, made to be lived with.
Measurements: 28cm wide, 24cm deep, 26cm tall.
